There was a time when restaurants would open in Aldeburgh and we would be surprised to see them still there a year later. All that has changed.
The first to buck the trend was Regatta (01728 452011), which in our view offers the most consistent value for money.
Others we can recommend are Lighthouse (77 High Street, 01728 453377)and 152 (yes, 152 High Street, 01728 454594). These two seldom disappoint. Even a chain restaurant, Prezzo, has arrived.
Don't go without at least one visit to the famous fish and chip shop. Both this and The Galleon are owned by the Cooney family.
If you are unable to shake your Starbucks addiction or are in need of an amazing breakfast, visit Munchies at 163 High Street.
Further afield, the two Adnams pubs in Southwold, The Swan and The Crown, are very good, as are The Crown and Castle and Oysterage in Orford.
